Built circa 1867, Mariner’s Legacy celebrates the maritime history of Mathews and the Chesapeake Bay. According to family lore, this waterfront home was built by shipwrights (carpenters) after the Civil War. It is situated on a double peninsula that looks due north 1 1/2 miles up the East River, past Williams Wharf into Put-In Creek and southeast 2 miles down the river towards Mobjack Bay as well into Mill Creek and Raines Creek.
