Certain events held at Captain Sinclair’s Recreational Area in Gloucester, Virginia, may require the event organizer to obtain special event liability insurance.
Captain Sinclair’s Recreational Area is owned and managed by the Middle Peninsula Chesapeake Bay Public Access Authority (PAA). Special event insurance helps protect event organizers and the facility from claims arising from injuries to participants or members of the public, or damage to property, that may occur in connection with a qualifying event.
For qualifying events, the PAA utilizes GatherGuard® Special Event Insurance as an option for obtaining the required event liability coverage.
GatherGuard provides short-term insurance specifically designed for special events. Coverage is generally available for a specific event date or period and may be appropriate for activities such as community gatherings, private events, fundraisers, meetings, celebrations, and other approved uses of the facility.
When applying for coverage through GatherGuard, event organizers should use the following facility information:
Venue: Captain Sinclair’s Recreational AreaLocation: Gloucester, VirginiaVenue ID: 4809Location Code: 644Owner/Manager: Middle Peninsula Chesapeake Bay Public Access Authority
The event organizer is responsible for obtaining any insurance required for the event and for ensuring that the coverage purchased meets the requirements established by the PAA.
Depending on the nature of the event, additional insurance requirements may apply. Event organizers should carefully review the coverage, limits, exclusions, and terms of the policy before purchasing insurance.
Important: Approval to hold an event at Captain Sinclair’s Recreational Area and the purchase of special event insurance are separate matters. Obtaining insurance does not constitute approval to use the facility, and approval of an event does not guarantee that a particular insurance policy will provide coverage for every activity associated with the event.
