Explore: Head to Captain Sinclair’s Public Recreation Area in Gloucester, Virginia with your camera or smartphone.

Capture: Snap photos of the following:

Flora: Capture the vibrancy of the native plants throughout the property.

Fauna: Photograph birds in flight, insects on the move, and animals in their natural habitat. Think deer, turkey, osprey, Bald Eagles, otters, Blue Heron and a plethora of fish.

Landscapes: Snap stunning vistas. The sunrise and sunset over the river is to die for.

Unique Finds: Look for natural wonders.

Located in the rural Land’s End area of Gloucester County, just past Naxera.

  • Take US Rt 17 into Gloucester County.
  • Turn onto Rt 614, Feather Bed Ln (6 m).
  • Take a LEFT into The Corduroy (.4 m).
  • Continue onto Rt 614, The Bay Cottage Ln (404 ft).
  • Continue onto The Corduroy (434 ft).
  • Slight LEFT onto Land’s End Rd (.5 m).
  • 1st RIGHT onto Whittaker Drive (.2 m).
  • Turn LEFT onto the driveway and follow for about .1 miles to the Main House Area.
  • Continue taking the driveway past the Main House and around the Pool House to the right to park closer to the pier entrance.

Note: Captain Sinclair’s Recreational Area is located in a low-lying tidal waterfront area. Higher-than-normal tides exceeding 3.2 ft may make the VDOT road impassable.
